OktoberFest NYC is a sprawling waterfront Oktoberfest celebration held annually at Watermark on Pier 15 in lower Manhattan. Running for over six weeks from mid-September through late October, the festival transforms the 10,000-square-foot venue into an authentic Bavarian beer garden with stunning views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, and the Brooklyn skyline. General admission is free with an RSVP, making it one of the most accessible beer festivals in New York City.
The festival features authentic German beer from three flagship breweries — Radeberger Pilsner, Hofbrauhaus Munchen, and Weihenstephan — alongside traditional Bavarian food including bratwurst, giant pretzels, and other German fare. Live entertainment, Oktoberfest decorations, and a festive atmosphere draw crowds throughout its extended run. The event operates seven days a week with varying hours, welcoming all ages during the day and transitioning to a lively nightlife scene in the evenings.
OktoberFest NYC has been running since approximately 2015 at the Pier 15 Watermark location. VIP and Fast Pass ticket options provide express entry and drink packages for those looking to skip the lines and enjoy a premium experience, while the free general admission option keeps the celebration open to everyone.
OktoberFest NYC was born around 2015 when Merchants Hospitality, the luxury restaurant group behind several of Manhattan's most popular venues, saw an opportunity to bring an authentic Munich-style Oktoberfest to the waterfront. Their flagship venue Watermark, perched at the end of Pier 15 in the South Street Seaport district, offered something no traditional beer hall could match: a 10,000-square-foot open-air space with unobstructed views of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Williamsburg Bridge, and the glittering Brooklyn skyline. The vision was straightforward — create an Oktoberfest celebration that the organizers themselves would want to attend, one that stayed true to the spirit of Munich's original festival while embracing the energy of New York City.
What sets OktoberFest NYC apart from the city's crowded calendar of beer events is its sheer accessibility and duration. While most beer festivals are one-day affairs that require expensive tickets, OktoberFest NYC runs for six full weeks — seven days a week from mid-September through late October — and general admission is free with an RSVP. That model has turned it into a recurring destination rather than a single event, drawing families during the day and a lively nightlife crowd after dark. The beer list stays focused and authentic, pouring only from three storied German breweries: Radeberger Pilsner, Hofbrauhaus Munchen, and Weihenstephan, the world's oldest continuously operating brewery. Paired with bratwurst, giant pretzels, and traditional Bavarian decorations, the result feels less like a New York pop-up and more like a genuine beer garden that happens to have one of the best views in lower Manhattan.
