The California Brewers Festival is one of Northern California's longest-running craft beverage events, founded in 1994 and held each September at Discovery Park in Sacramento. Presented by the Point West Rotary Club Foundation, the festival celebrates California's world-class craft brewing industry while raising significant funds for Sacramento-area charities — over $1.95 million since inception.
The festival features a wide range of craft beverages including beer, wine, cider, sake, seltzers, and kombucha from California producers. VIP ticket holders enjoy early entry at noon, while General Admission starts at 1 PM and runs until 4 PM. The signature Beer Mile Relay Fun Run adds a competitive element, while food trucks, a vendor marketplace, live DJ entertainment, and a free bike valet round out the experience.
The California Brewers Festival traces its roots back to 1994, when a member of the Point West Rotary Club returned from the Oregon Brewers Festival inspired to create something similar for Sacramento. What began as a modest gathering in Old Sacramento has evolved into one of Northern California's premier craft beverage events, now held each September at Discovery Park along the Sacramento River.
For over 30 years, the festival has served a dual purpose: celebrating California's world-class craft brewing industry while raising significant funds for Sacramento-area charities. Presented by the Point West Rotary Club Foundation, the event has channeled more than $1.95 million into local community programs, making it one of the most impactful charity beer festivals in the state. Every ticket purchased and every beer sampled contributes directly to this mission.
The festival has kept pace with the evolving craft beverage landscape, expanding beyond traditional beer to include wine, cider, sake, seltzers, and kombucha. The signature Beer Mile Relay Fun Run adds a uniquely entertaining competitive element, while food trucks, a vendor marketplace, and live DJ entertainment round out the experience. Discovery Park's spacious riverside setting provides the perfect backdrop for a late-summer afternoon of tasting and community.
