Bolts Brew Fest is Tampa Bay's premier craft beer festival, held annually at Amalie Arena — home of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning. Now in its eighth year, the festival transforms the arena concourse and event floor into a massive beer tasting experience featuring hundreds of craft beers, ciders, seltzers, canned cocktails, wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic options from more than 50 local, national, and international brands. The event is co-produced by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay and the Tampa Bay Lightning organization. The 2025 edition takes place on Friday, August 1, with three ticket tiers. General Admission ($40-$60) grants access from 8-10 PM with unlimited sampling. General Admission Plus ($65-$90) opens at 7 PM for an extra hour. VIP ($110-$150) includes entry at 6 PM, access to the exclusive Ashley VIP Lounge with VIP-only beers and food, plus a BOGO code for a Lightning pre-season game. This is a 21+ only event.
What started as a creative crossover between professional hockey and craft beer culture has become one of Tampa's most anticipated summer events. Bolts Brew Fest was born in 2018 when the Tampa Bay Lightning organization saw an opportunity to bring the community together during the NHL offseason by opening the doors of Amalie Arena for something completely different — a craft beer festival. Partnering with Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, the region's leading alternative media outlet, they created an event that leveraged the arena's massive footprint to deliver a beer experience unlike anything else in the Tampa Bay area.
The festival quickly found its audience. With breweries stationed throughout the concourse and on the event floor, attendees get to explore the same hallways they normally associate with hockey games, but this time with a tasting glass in hand. Over the years, the event has expanded its offerings beyond beer to include ciders, seltzers, spirits, and non-alcoholic options, reflecting the broader evolution of the craft beverage industry. The festival has also partnered with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and other local nonprofits, directing a portion of proceeds to charitable causes.
