The Michigan Winter Beer Festival is the state's premier cold-weather craft beer event, organized by the Michigan Brewers Guild and held annually at LMCU Ballpark in Comstock Park, just outside Grand Rapids. The 2026 edition marks the festival's 20th anniversary, bringing together over 100 Michigan breweries for an afternoon of outdoor winter beer sampling from 1 PM to 6 PM. VIP ticket holders enjoy early entry at noon with an additional hour of exclusive tasting.
General admission tickets ($65 advance, $75 day-of) and VIP tickets ($85 advance, $95 day-of) include admission and unlimited beer samples. Thanks to recent Michigan legislative changes, the festival no longer uses tokens — attendees can sample freely from all participating breweries. Food vendors provide sustenance alongside the beer.
The festival is an outdoor event held rain, snow, or shine. Attendees enjoy fire pits, ice sculptures, and live music. All attendees must be 21 or older with a valid ID.
The Michigan Winter Beer Festival was born in 2007 as the Michigan Brewers Guild's answer to the cold-weather months, when beer lovers were looking for reasons to celebrate craft brewing even with snow on the ground. The Guild, established in 1997, saw an opportunity to create a signature winter event that would complement its popular summer festival. From the beginning, the winter festival embraced the elements — attendees bundled up and gathered outdoors to sample beers brewed specifically for the season.
Over two decades, the festival has grown into one of Michigan's most beloved beer events. The move to LMCU Ballpark in Comstock Park gave the event a proper home with stadium infrastructure, while preserving the outdoor, community feel. The ballpark transforms each February into a winter wonderland of craft beer, with fire pits, ice sculptures, and live music keeping the energy high.
The 2026 edition marks a milestone 20th anniversary and brings the elimination of the token system thanks to legislative updates. The Michigan Brewers Guild, with nearly 300 member breweries, uses the winter festival as a showcase for the depth and variety of Michigan's craft brewing scene.
