The St. Louis Microfest is one of the longest-running craft beer festivals in Missouri, first held in 1997 and now approaching its third decade. The annual one-day event takes place each May at 2107 Chouteau Avenue in St. Louis and serves as the primary fundraiser for Lift For Life Gym, a nonprofit that has provided supervised fitness, recreation, nutrition, and personal development programs for underprivileged youth since 1988.
General admission grants attendees access to sample from over 75 breweries pouring more than 200 international and craft beers, a commemorative tasting glass, live music, and food available for purchase. The VIP Experience adds exclusive perks including early entry one hour before general admission, a collectible pub glass upgrade, tastings of limited-release and rare craft brews available only in the VIP area, a culinary spread prepared by Bogart's Smokehouse, and access to a designated VIP area with private restrooms.
The 2025 edition was held on Saturday, May 10, with VIP access from noon to 4 PM and general admission from 1 PM to 4 PM. All proceeds from ticket sales and the event go directly to supporting Lift For Life Gym's programming for over 500 youth annually. St. Louis Microfest is one of the longest-running craft beer festivals in the Midwest, pouring its first pints in 1997 when the American craft beer movement was still finding its footing. From the beginning, the festival has served a dual purpose: celebrating great beer and raising money for Lift For Life Gym, a nonprofit that has provided St. Louis inner-city youth with positive alternatives to drug abuse, violence, and gang involvement since 1988. Every ticket sold, every beer sampled, and every dollar spent at Microfest goes directly toward keeping the Gym's doors open for the hundreds of disadvantaged kids it serves each year.
What started as a modest neighborhood fundraiser has grown into a full-scale beer tasting festival featuring over 75 breweries and more than 200 craft beers, drawing crowds to the Rhone Festival Grounds every May. The festival has weathered industry shifts, a pandemic pivot to a 'MicroCrawl' format in 2021, and nearly three decades of St. Louis summers — and it keeps coming back stronger. Live music, local food vendors, and a community-first atmosphere set Microfest apart from corporate beer events.
