The Portland Holiday Brew Fest brings winter cheer to the heart of downtown Portland at Pioneer Courthouse Square. The 2026 edition runs Friday, December 4 (5:30 PM - 10 PM) and Saturday, December 5 (12 PM - 10 PM), with taps closing at 9:30 PM each night. Held beneath the city's iconic 75-foot Christmas tree, the festival features 30+ holiday and winter beers and ciders from Pacific Northwest breweries and cideries, all served under covered, heated tents.
The fest combines seasonal craft beverages with vinyl DJs spinning holiday tunes and cozy winter food options. It's designed as an immersive winter experience — sipping a warming stout under twinkling lights with Portland's Christmas tree towering overhead. Ticket details for 2026 are forthcoming; previous editions have featured tickets ranging from approximately $16 to $37. Volunteer opportunities are also available for those wanting free entry.
The festival serves as Portland's premier holiday beer event, filling the void left by the long-running Portland Holiday Ale Fest that went dormant during the pandemic.
The Portland Holiday Brew Fest was born in 2023 when True West Presents, a Pacific Northwest concert promoter, stepped in to fill a gap in Portland's beer calendar. The beloved Portland Holiday Ale Fest had been dormant since the pandemic began, and the city's beer community was missing its signature winter celebration. True West, known for producing events that blend music and community, saw an opportunity to create something fresh while honoring the tradition.
Pioneer Courthouse Square — Portland's "living room" — provided the perfect setting. The square's annual Christmas tree lighting already draws thousands downtown each holiday season, and adding a craft beer festival beneath the tree created a natural pairing. The covered, heated tents ensure comfort even in Portland's December rain, while vinyl DJs add a hip, cozy atmosphere distinct from typical beer festivals.
In just a few years, the Portland Holiday Brew Fest has established itself as an essential holiday tradition, bringing together the Pacific Northwest's best winter brewers in one of Portland's most iconic public spaces.
