The Newport Beer Festival is Rhode Island's premier craft beer event, held at the iconic Fort Adams State Park overlooking Narragansett Bay. The 2026 edition takes place on May 2 from 1:00 to 4:30 PM, featuring beer tastings from 50+ hand-selected breweries and beverage producers from across New England and beyond.
General admission tickets ($65) include a souvenir tasting glass and all beer samples throughout the afternoon. The festival combines world-class craft beer with one of the most stunning waterfront settings in New England — Fort Adams is a National Historic Landmark and the largest coastal fortification in the United States, also famous as the home of the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals.
The Newport Beer Festival benefits the Rhode Island Brewers Guild and features live music, food vendors, and interactive exhibitors alongside the beer tastings. The event is strictly 21+ with valid ID required.
The Newport Beer Festival was founded in 2013 as a celebration of New England's growing craft beer scene, and it quickly found its perfect home at Fort Adams State Park. Formerly known as the Newport Craft Beer Festival, the event has grown into one of Rhode Island's most anticipated annual gatherings, reaching its 14th year in 2026.
The choice of Fort Adams as a venue was inspired. The historic fortification, built between 1824 and 1857, sits on a peninsula at the mouth of Newport Harbor with sweeping views of Narragansett Bay and the Newport Bridge. The park already had a strong association with iconic festivals — the Newport Jazz Festival and Newport Folk Festival both call Fort Adams home — and the beer festival fit naturally into this tradition.
As a benefit for the Rhode Island Brewers Guild, the festival plays an important role in supporting and promoting the state's craft brewing industry. Over 14 years, it has evolved from a regional tasting event into a destination festival that draws craft beer enthusiasts from across the Northeast.
