Burp Fest at Sioux Empire On Tap 2027

Sioux Empire On Tap launched in 2015 as part of the America On Tap touring festival series, bringing a national-caliber craft beer event to the heart of South Dakota. The concept was straightforward: curate 100-plus craft beers, ciders, and seltzers from both local and national breweries, pair them with live music and local food vendors, and give the Sioux Falls community a reason to celebrate its growing beer culture every February.

The festival arrived at a pivotal moment for South Dakota craft beer. A state that had only a handful of breweries a decade earlier was experiencing a boom — from the Black Hills to Sioux Falls, new taprooms were opening at a pace nobody predicted, and the South Dakota Craft Brewers Guild was documenting a $245 million economic impact. Sioux Empire On Tap gave those local breweries a stage alongside nationally recognized names, raising the profile of the entire state's craft scene.

By its tenth anniversary in 2024, thousands were filing through the doors of the Sioux Falls Convention Center for what had become one of the Upper Midwest's signature winter beer events. Each edition is unique — the sampling list, the vendor lineup, and the live music are all tailored specifically to the Sioux Falls community, setting it apart from cookie-cutter touring festivals. For a city that embraces its harsh winters with stubborn enthusiasm, Sioux Empire On Tap has become the perfect excuse to gather, sample something new, and toast to the craft brewers putting South Dakota on the beer map.
