Busch Gardens Bier Fest is billed as Virginia's largest craft beer and BBQ festival, running weekends from late July through Labor Day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. First launched in 2015, the event features more than 100 beers on tap from 60 breweries, including 39 Virginia hometown favorites. The festival includes 80+ craft brews and specialty cocktails, 38 BBQ-inspired bites, live local bands each weekend, and traditional German food.
The event is included with regular park admission or membership — beer sampling requires an additional purchase for guests 21+ with valid ID. Special experiences include the Rhine River "Brews Cruise" and nightly fireworks. The 2026 edition runs July 31 through September 7 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day.
Busch Gardens Bier Fest debuted in late 2015 as a modest four-day event spanning just two consecutive weekends. The festival drew on Busch Gardens Williamsburg's deep ties to European theming — the park features sections modeled after Germany, England, France, Scotland, Ireland, and Italy — making a beer and food festival a natural fit.
The event grew rapidly, expanding from a brief weekend affair into a multi-week summer tradition that now spans from late July through Labor Day. Busch Gardens leveraged its theme park infrastructure to create an experience that combines craft beer with rides, shows, and family entertainment — setting it apart from standalone beer festivals. The emphasis on Virginia breweries (39 of the 60 participating are Virginia-based) reflects the state's booming craft beer scene, while the BBQ-inspired food menu adds a distinctly American flavor to the German-themed celebration.
